  • Ironman All Country HT 4S Tire Review

Ironman is an associate brand of the Hercules Tire & Rubber Company and is growing among US drivers because of its value-offering range of tires. The tire manufacturer is admired for its heavy-duty functionality with highly accessible pricing and focuses on real-world reliability.

Coming from the manufacturer, the Ironman All Country HT 4S is a highway-terrain tire suitable for use on SUVs, CUVs, and light trucks that need solid year-round performance in dry, wet, and winter weather conditions. This tire is better optimized than the traditional highway all-season tires to perform in temperatures below 45 degrees Fahrenheit, or on roads covered with layers of ice and slush, as it is Three Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) certified. The all-weather rubber compound of this tire is optimized for enhanced traction and grip in rain, shine, and severe winter conditions. Additionally, Ironman has tuned it for long-lasting tread life, high-speed stability, and strong winter performance.

If you need a set of dependable highway tires, this Ironman All Country HT 4S review will help you understand in depth the tire’s features, pros and cons, vehicle compatibility, available rim choices, and our verdict based on our proprietary tire rating system SimpleScore. So, read on to make an informed decision!

    Features and Benefits

Before we talk in detail about the features and benefits of the All Country HT 4S, let’s understand a bit about highway tires. The highway tires are specially tuned for paved roads and are optimized for quiet, comfortable, and fuel-efficient drives. Their profile and construction are also tuned for extended service and better load-carrying capacity than standard all-seasons. The All Country HT 4S also utilizes many of these traits and comes with features and tread optimization to handle shifting road conditions while maintaining everyday pavement comfort:

    • Solid all-weather traction and grip - The standout feature of this tire is its Three Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) certification, which allows it to conquer roads in moderate to severe winter weather. There are high-density 3D sipes across the tread for increased surface-biting ability in snowy or icy conditions, assuring solid traction and improved grip across different weather conditions. It is also tuned for solid wet traction and hydroplaning resistance, thanks to its four wide longitudinal grooves that optimally channel water and slush away from the contact patch.
    • Confident handling, highway stability, and braking performance – For stable highway cruising, the All Country HT 4S features a continuous center rib that optimizes stability and steering response. Likewise, the broad outer shoulders offer confident handling, especially while cornering or changing lanes. The braking efficiency of the tire is further boosted through the lateral and circumferential grooves that keep the contact patch clean for extra holding and on-time stopping ability.
    • Long-lasting tread life – The Ironman All Country HT 4S tire is also designed and engineered for lasting service, further supported by its advanced rubber compound that resists heat buildup and a solid construction that keeps the tire in its original shape for long-lasting wear. The tire withstands long-distance hauling and comes as a good option for pickup trucks used for heavy load-carrying capacity.
    • Quiet and smooth rides – While the tire is aggressive and comes with winter driving abilities, its tread is refined to offer quieter and smoother rides. The simulated pitch sequence and an optimized tread block arrangement control pattern noise levels and optimally absorb vibrations at higher speeds for a pleasant driving experience.
    • Covered by a great mileage warranty – This tire is also covered by an impressive 55,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty, assuring absolute peace of mind for its customers.

The All Country HT 4S is available in 15- to 20-inch rim sizes, and some of its available sizes include:

    Pros and Cons

Now that we have covered the features and benefits of the All Country HT 4S, let’s take a look at the tire’s operational strengths and real-world weaknesses:

    PROS:

    • More affordable than many of its peers
    • Three Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) certified for use in moderate to severe winter conditions
    • Tuned for solid traction and grip in all-weather conditions
    • Backed by a solid 55,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty
    • Longer lasting than many of its competitors in the price point league
    • Better handling and braking performance than many of its rivals on dry and wet surfaces
    • Offers quieter and smoother rides on highways

    CONS:

    • While it’s capable of tackling wintry pavement and packed snow, it is not as great as a dedicated winter tire in extreme winter weather conditions.
    • Suitable only for use on highways, not to be used on rugged trails
    • Handling performance in snowy conditions and on icy roads might not be as great as that of top-tier all-weather highway-terrain tires

SimpleTire’s view on Ironman All Country HT 4S tires

If you are looking for a tire that doesn’t put a dent in your wallet and offers the convenience of driving in all weather conditions and specializes in highway hauling and lifting heavy loads on your pickup truck, choose the Ironman All Country HT 4S. It secures a very respectable SimpleScore of 8.9 for its longevity and comes with a backing of a 55,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty that underlines its long-lasting service. The tire is Three Peak Mountain Snowflake certified, allowing you to gain traction and grip in winter conditions, along with decent performance on wet and dry roads. It scores an 8.0 SimpleScore for its great traction performance.

The handling performance of the All Country HT 4S is better than that of competitors on dry and wet roads. Likewise, the tire is good in terms of controlling tread noise levels and road vibrations. It is durable, does a good job hauling material and vehicle loads, and its heat resistance gives it an extra point in the price-point league of highway tires.

For value seekers, it is indeed a great choice; however, there are some drawbacks you need to be aware of. First, its winter performance isn’t as exemplary as that of dedicated winter tires. It is only tuned for highways and paved roads, and should not be considered as an option for occasional or regular off-road adventures. Similarly, the handling performance of the All Country HT 4S doesn’t score as high as some of the top-tier competitors.

So far have been a comfortable quiet tire. Traction has been as good as the HT's I had but much quieter. Although the Force Road Balance was high we'll see how they hold up at 10000 miles
