What are you looking for in an all-terrain tire? Ideally, you’d like a tire that’s durable enough to go off-road with confidence, but one that’s also still civilized on pavement, with good road manners, strong handling and braking performance, plus low noise and a comfortable ride. The ideal all-terrain tire would be designed for great traction in mud, sand, gravel, loose dirt, and other off-road conditions, but would also be rated for winter traction. You’d probably also be looking for long, even wear, internal construction that delivers resilience and good stability at highway speed, and a generous treadwear warranty.
That’s quite a list of expectations, when you see it all laid out that way. Is it too much to hope for in a tire? Well, the Toyo Open Country A/T III is a good candidate to meet all of those expectations.
So is this the tire you’re looking for? Let’s take a closer look with this Toyo Open Country A/T III review.

SimpleTire’s view on Toyo Open Country A/T III tires
If you’re looking for a tire that’s tough and durable with dependable, consistent traction in a wide variety of off-road situations, the Toyo Open Country A/T III might be just what you need.
This is a tire that’s great on wet or dry pavement as well, with good stability and on-center road manners on the highway. The outlined white letter sidewall option lends a classic look to a wide variety of trucks and SUVs, and the Toyo Open Country A/T III’s 50,000 (or 65,000) mile treadwear coverage is hard to beat. Additionally, the Open Country A/T III’s Three Peak Mountain Snowflake rating isn’t exactly easy to come by – the tire industry sets the bar pretty high for that winter certification – but it means you can count on this tire to get you through deep snow and slush in the dead of winter.
Yes, the Toyo Open Country A/T III is a little on the noisy side, but that’s to be expected with many all-terrain tires. We feel that the pluses of this next-generation all-terrain tire for light trucks and SUVs far outweigh the negatives, and that you’ll be happy with the Open Country A/T III if you’re in the market for an all-terrain tire.

I have a 2020 Ram 1500 but overall I've had Nitto Trail Grappler MT's for 6 years and decided to go with the Toyo Open Country AT III this time. I have been very impressed. The tires are extremely smooth on the highway and I don't hear any road noise at all. Dry traction is great. I'd give wet traction a 3/5 but given how light the rear end of my 1500 is that could be why. I've also given them a big test pulling a trailer up a mud logging road. They're no mud tire by any means but they got the job done. Overall satisfied.
Found these tires on this website with a good affordable price and finding a tire shop to install was easy. Good for off roading if you going to the rocky trails or a construction site where there's mud. They can be a little bit noisy but it's not annoying like other big tires you see on other vehicles. Gas mileage it's alright. They fit perfect for a midsize truck and the tire design it's good not to aggressive or soft. Overall the tires are perfect for anyone who wants to go light off-roading, going through some mud or a rocky trail.
I had Goodrich and I changed them because they wore out quickly and they were like hard stones I bought toyo at a tremendous price in simple tire and the car changed soft stable excellent recommendation of simpletire
This is my 4th set of Toyos of the past several years. I have run different sizes on different vehicles and they are a quiet, wear well and handle great! Will continue to buy Open Country tires every time I am in need.
