# Performance tires
Performance tires are commonly used on sports cars and performance-oriented vehicles. Ideal for use in above freezing temperatures, performance tires typically allow drivers to bring out the sporty handling, braking, and steering of their ride, and are able to perform in dry and wet conditions that are common with warmer weather.

Performance tires are made by a variety of tire manufacturers, including <a title="Shop for Yokohama Performance Tires" href="/brands/yokohama-tires/categories/performance">Yokohama</a>, <a title="Shop for Bridgestone Performance Tires" href="/brands/bridgestone-tires/categories/performance">Bridgestone</a>, <a title="Shop for Toyo Performance Tires" href="/brands/toyo-tires/categories/performance">Toyo</a>, <a title="Shop for Pirelli Performance Tires" href="/brands/pirelli-tires/categories/performance">Pirelli</a> and <a title="Shop for Kumho Performance Tires" href="/brands/kumho-tires/categories/performance">Kumho</a>.

Eagle F1 SuperSport

Sports and performance-oriented cars need a tire that can help them push the envelope, and that's exactly what the Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport does. An asymmetrical tread pattern increases grip for better traction and handling performance on wet and dry roads, and the Eagle F1 SuperSport's optimized footprint puts more rubber on the road to enhance acceleration, braking, and cornering performance. The Eagle F1 SuperSport also features four wide grooves that remove water from the tread to reduce the risk of hydroplaning on wet roads, and the tire's sticky rubber compound allows for strong grip when temperatures are consistently above 45 degrees Fahrenheit.

Performance tires are designed for use on sports cars and performance-oriented vehicles. These tires are usually at their best in above freezing temperatures, and offer drivers responsive handling, improved acceleration, and strong braking capabilities.

Vehicle

This product is not covered by a manufacturer’s treadlife warranty.

Mileage Warranty

The maximum carrying capacity for a tire determined by the manufacturer.

Load Index

Maximum speed capability to safely carry a load for an extended period of time.

Max Speed

The maximum load carrying strength at the specified inflation pressure, also known as ply rating.

Load Range

The side of the tire between the tread and rim, with cosmetic branding as well as information about the tire including manufacturer, model, size, etc.

Sidewall

Standards that measure treadwear, temperature resistance and traction, example: "640 A A". The 640 is the treadwear test and it lasted 6.4 times longer than the comparison tire tested against. The first "A" is the traction rating using straight-line wet traction on test surfaces (see information tables tab) and the second "A" is the temperature rating by testing operation at high speeds without heat-related failure (see information tables tab).

UTQG

Wet Traction is a piece of the UTQG for example if UTQG is: 500 AA A, the wet traction piece is the second piece, the "AA".

Wet Traction

Measured in 32nds of an inch, this metric shows how much tread life is left on a tire, with the tire's traction & stopping capabilities greatly diminished at 4/32nds and less. Tire manufacturers include "tire wear bars" at 2/32nds to indicate when your tire is worn out.

Tread Depth

The highest inflation pressure (measured in pounds of force per square inch, PSI) the tire is designed to contain, and should only be used when called for by the vehicle placard.

Inflation Pressure

An identifier of a particular tire line and size combination assigned by the tire manufacturer.

Part Number

Tread design (or tread pattern) can affect handling, traction & noise for different driving styles & road conditions.

Tread Design

Tire Weight

The measurement of width from a tires inner sidewall to the outer sidewall.

Section Width

The range of widths the rim of the vehicle can be for this tire to be safely mounted on.

Rim Range

The diameter of a tire that is inflated without any load applied.

Overall Diameter

A three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol branded on a tire's sidewall indicates the tire meets required performance criteria in snow testing to be considered severe snow service-rated.

Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMS)

A marking that the vehicle manufacturer has the tire maker put on the tire to signify that it's Original Equipment (or OE) for that vehicle.

Original Equipment Marking

The Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport tires are generally well-regarded for their performance, especially in dry conditions and when warm. They offer excellent grip and handling characteristics, making them suitable for performance driving and track use. However, the rapid wear rate and increased noise levels are significant drawbacks for some users. Wet performance seems to vary, with some praising it while others find it lacking compared to competitors.
