  • Among the world’s largest automotive tire suppliers and manufacturers, Continental is a German multinational tire company that was founded one and a half-centuries ago. They produce tires for passenger cars, CUVs, SUVs, light trucks, industrial equipment, farm, and others in different categories such as all-season, all-terrain, winter, UHP, and commercial. These tires offer reliable performance with low noise and high comfort levels, and the CrossContact RX is certainly among those tires.

Designed for use on CUVs, SUVs, and light trucks, the Continental CrossContact RX is an all-season tire that features a new tread pattern to ensure shorter braking distance in wet, reduced noise levels (ContiSilent tech), superb traction and handling in snow and wet weather, and a longer service life. It also features the ContiSeal technology that seals 80% of all tire punctures, ensuring you have a safe drive. Compatible with electric and hybrid vehicles, the tire is available in a wide range of tire sizes from 16 to 22 inches.

The tire promises a lot when it comes to year-round performance, but does it deliver? Let’s find out in this Continental CrossContact RX tire review. Keep reading.

    Features and Benefits

All-season tires are engineered to offer superb grip, traction, and handling in most conditions, including dry, wet, and light snow. With these capabilities, they can perform year-round and are the most preferred tire type worldwide. The CrossContact RX is among the best tires in this category.

    • Superb grip and traction: The innovative tread design features a ribbed pattern and strong shoulders for excellent stability, handling, and even wear. The circumferential grooves quickly disperse water from the surface to avoid the risk of hydroplaning. Dense sipes and deep grooves together provide excellent grip and traction. Lastly, the continuous center rib improves steering feedback.
    • Quiet and comfortable drive: The tire comes with noise-reducing ContiSilent technology that features an inner tire absorber foam attached to the inner tread surface with an adhesive. It reduces noise by up to 9dB (A) depending on the surface, speed, and type of vehicle. Moreover, the optimized tread pattern cancels noise to a great degree so you can enjoy a comfortable drive inside the cabin.
    • Extra protection and reliability: The use of ContiSeal technology makes every drive with CrossContact RX more reliable, as it utilizes a sticky gel that covers up any punctures caused by an external agent like a nail. Even if the object is dislodged, the sealant covers it up, so you don’t need immediate flat tire assistance.

    Pros and Cons

The Continental tire has a lot of advantages, but it also comes with a few shortcomings. Let’s look at its pros and cons before summing up the Continental CrossContact RX review.

    • Dense sipes for extra biting edges on snow

    Cons

I have not yet installed these tires as I am waiting for the originals to get to the replacement point. The originals are the exact same, so I expect the new ones to do as well. So far, 36,000 miles on the first set, which is great for a heavy electric car. I may get to 40,000 before I have to replace.
