The Hakkapeliitta R3 is a great example of that kind of tire – this is a winter tire that’s designed for durability as well as control and traction, with a tough Aramid-reinforced casing and 10-ply construction for a longevity score of 8.2. Where the Hakkapeliitta LT3 excels, though, is its winter performance. The Hakkapeliitta R3’s tread is designed with a directional pattern with block notches, sweeping grooves, zigzag tread blocks, and interlocking 3D sipes. All those tread features work as a system to help you get from point A to point B in the most severe winter conditions with confidence. Nokian engineers infused the tread formulation of the Hakkapeliitta R3 with bio-based Cryo Crystal 3 bite particles for extra traction, yet rolling resistance is still low enough to make it a perfect choice for an EV or hybrid.
