3. Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2 - Best Winter tire

Next up is our choice for a winter tire, and the Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2 is a perfect option for winter performance for vehicles with the 245/70R16 tire size. The Blizzak DM-V2 is designed with the technology and features to confidently get you through some of the most difficult winter conditions without subjecting you and your passengers to a rough nerve-wracking ride. Next up is a tire that’s made a great impression on drivers for years, the Yokohama Geolandar AT G015. Yokohama’s Geolandar family of tires has built a great reputation for all-terrain tire performance for decades, and the Geolandar AT G015 is a natural next step for Yokohama. The Geolandar AT G015 is designed around Yokohama’s Enduro tread formulation and a flat, optimized footprint that encourages long, even wear (with a 60,000 mile warranty), the kind of wear properties that are good enough for a strong SimpleScore of 8.8 for longevity. Grip on or off the pavement is superb and consistent as well, with a combination of circumferential grooves, full-depth 3D sipes, and Yokohama’s Edgetec groove design. The Yokohama Geolandar AT G015 is stamped with the Three Peak Mountain Snowflake rating for severe winter service, and we give it a very strong 8.6 SimpleScore in the traction department. Road manners, steering feedback, cornering, and steering response with the Geolandar AT G015 are all excellent thanks to those tread features along with durable, stable Endurocore construction.

5. Kumho Crugen HP71 - Great All-Season tire

Let’s close out and wrap up our list with a next-generation all-season tire, the Kumho Crugen HP71. The Crugen HP71 comes with a very respectable SimpleScore of 9.1 for longevity; Kumho designed it with an advanced tread compound and covered it with a 65,000 mile warranty. Steering feedback, response, road manners, and cornering are all more along the lines of what you’d expect from a performance tire, with a rigid center rib and shoulder blocks that are designed to resist the forces of braking and cornering for a handling score of 8.6. With its circumferential grooves, lateral voids, micro-serrations, and full-depth sipes that help deliver dependable grip in wet, dry, or wintry conditions as well as on a variety of pavement surfaces, we give the Crugen HP71 a SimpleScore of 8.4 for traction. The Kumho Crugen HP71 is also engineered for a ride that’s quiet and refined, thanks to a tread pitch that’s randomized and computer-tuned to cancel certain frequencies, keeping road noise low.
