For some time now, just about everything in the Hankook product line has been making a pretty good impression on us at SimpleTire, and the Kinergy ST (H735) is no exception. The Kinergy ST (H735) gets a composite SimpleScore of 8.6 overall, with scores of 8.5 for traction, 9.0 for longevity, and 8.3 for handling, so let’s unpack that a little. The Kinergy ST uses an advanced tread formulation and truly durable internal construction (H735) for great wear properties, along with long life and high-speed stability. The Kinergy ST (H735) is covered with a 70,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty. Handling properties with the Kinergy ST are stable and predictable, with tie bars that link groove structures and tread blocks together to enhance the tread’s rigidity and resist the G-forces and inertia of cornering. A solid center rib is designed for great straight-line road manners on the highway as well as a steering response that’s crisp and direct. There’s also a dense network of sipes that multiply traction with hundreds of sharp biting edges as well as wide circumferential grooves and lateral grooves that channel standing water away and through the tire’s contact patch to resist hydroplaning and aid with year-round grip. The Kinergy ST (H735)’s tread pattern is also randomized and computer-tuned to help keep road noise to a minimum for a quiet and comfortable ride. Select sizes of the Kinergy ST (H735) are also available with great-looking raised white letter sidewall, for a period-correct appearance on your muscle car or vintage ride.

2. Westlake RP18 - Great All-Season tire

Next up we’ve got the Westlake RP18, a great value in an all-season tire that can beat expectations and punch far above its weight class when it comes to performance and overall bang for the buck. Wear properties with the Westlake RP18 are very good; Westlake backs the RP18 with a 45,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty, and we took notes and gave this tire a SimpleScore of 8.2 for longevity. We also need to mention the dependable year-round traction of the RP18, thanks to its dense network of sipes and an all-season tread pattern that includes circumferential grooves and angled/lateral grooves. Taking that all into account, we give the RP18 a SimpleScore of 8.1 for traction. Steering response, cornering, braking, and road manners are all immediate and crisp thanks to that tread design, along with a notched shoulder that helps with cornering dynamics and a contact patch that’s optimized to keep the most rubber in contact with the road at all times. SimpleScore for handling: 8.3. The Westlake RP18 gets an overall SimpleScore average of 8.6.

3. Kenda Kenetica (KR217) - Great All-Season tire

Another great value in an affordable all-season tire is the Kenda Kenetica (KR217), which comes in with an overall aggregate SimpleScore of 8.3, with SimpleScores of 8.6 for longevity, 8.1 for handling, and 8.3 for traction. Despite the lower price point, the Kenda Kenetica is designed with a durable tread compound and internal construction, and Kenda covers the Kenetica (KR217) with a 60,000 mile limited manufacturer tread life warranty – exceptional coverage for a tire that’s this affordable. The random variable pitch tread design helps cancel certain frequencies and resonances for a quiet and comfortable ride, and the all-season tread design delivers both dependable traction and handling that’s capable and secure.

4. Arroyo EcoPro A/S - Good All-Season tire

Going down the list, we come to another great budget-priced all-season tire option with the Arroyo EcoPro A/S. The EcoPro A/S is a tire that easily outperforms its price point, thanks to a durable tread compound, deep tread depth, and stable internal design. Arroyo backs the EcoPro A/S with a 55,000 mile limited manufacturer’s warranty, enough for us to note a SimpleScore of 7.3 for traction. The tread pattern of the EcoPro A/S is designed with circumferential grooves that sweep water away from the tire’s contact patch to resist hydroplaning and a dense sipe pattern with a unique combination of various sipe sizes for a SimpleScore of 7.3 for traction. The optimized contact patch and stiffer shoulder deliver responsive, immediate cornering, braking, and steering performance, for a SimpleScore of 8.2 for handling. The overall average SimpleScore for the Arroyo EcoPro A/S is 7.9.

5. Maxxis MA-202 - Good All-Season tire

Let’s wrap this list up with the MA-202 from Maxxis, another exceptional value in the affordable all-season tire category. The Maxxis MA-202 is covered with a 60,000 mile warranty, and is built around an advanced tread compound with a polyester casing, twin steel belts, and jointless nylon cap ply for great stability at highway speed and long wear.
